Dominique Blake, 2012 Bronze Medal Olympian
She is the hottest female rising star in track and field in the Caribbean. Born in Mount Vernon, New York on February 15th 1987 to Vivian and Valerie Blake and sibling Duane Blake, 8 years her senior. She was raised in Kingston Jamaica where Dominique received her fundamentals in academics and athletics at an early age in prep school. She attended St. Peter &Paul Prep and Hillel Academy. Both schools are located in Kingston Jamaica. Throughout her years of living in Jamaica Dominique was very athletic and always seemed to have a love for running.
She took that attitude and made it her mantra in her adolescent life into adulthood. Migrating from Kingston, Jamaica in 1999, Dominique attended High school in Bronx, New York. At age 13 she became an all star athlete in track and field. Her coach Maritza Osorio realized the youngster’s talent very early and groomed her to become the best in the nation. She was recruited by virtually every university in the country. She earned a full scholarship to Penn state University, where she was also a stand out athlete and became an all American, multiple conference champion, national champion and school record holder.
Her parents encouraged her to be the very best at whatever she did. Whether it was sports or her schooling, it was always important for them to know she was giving her very best effort and also enjoying what she was participating in. Her father Vivian, who is a well know public figure in Jamaica played a major role in her upbringing and the woman she is today. Many perceive him to be a gangster or leader of the most feared, world renowned organized crime unit, Shower Posse. To most he was an answer to poverty stricken youths, families and communities in Jamaica’s less fortunate areas. A man of principle, prestige, heart and love for his family Vivian always instilled and preached the importance of success, will and determination to his daughter. He made sure she was the happiest daughter in the world and with that came a strong love and loyalty between the two.
Dominique made it her goal in life to be successful at whatever she did not only for herself but for her family. Any career field she decided to embark on. The goal is to always be successful and to make her parents proud. Dominique now balances being a philanthropist, role model and Track and Field professional athlete(2012 Olympic Bronze Medalist). She is ready to take the industry by storm. Beauty, brains and charm are only a few words to describe this standout star. With a bright future ahead of her, the sky is the limit for Dominique.
